Greg Luscombe has served as Principal Trombonist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra since the 1989-90 season. Mr. Luscombe is also the Professor of Low Brass at the University of Mississippi and maintains an active private studio. As a performer Mr. Luscombe has been featured various times as a soloist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra on both the Masterworks and Pops series. He has also soloed with other orchestras and various wind ensembles and concert bands.
Other recital appearances have included performances at Arkansas State University,the Universty of Memphis, The University of Lousianna (Monroe), Union University (Jackson, TN), The University of Akron, Grace College (Winona Lake, Indiana), The University of Northern Alabama and the University of Mississippi. As an orchestral player he has performed with the Chicago Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and the Mexico City Philharmonic. He also has been a member of the Ohio Chamber Orchestra (Cleveland, Ohio), the Canton Symphony, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and the Elgin Symphony Orchestra (Elgin, Illinois).
Mr Luscombe is also active in freelance work and performs professionally on the Euphonium as well as the bass trumpet. Luscombe's private study has included work with Per Brevig (Julliard), Jay Friedman (Chicago Symphony), Art Sares, Dee Stewart (Indiana University), Ed Zadrosny (Universty of Akron), Arnold Jacobs and Vern Kagarice(North Texas State University).
Mr. Luscombe has a Master of Music degree from the University of Akron and has done post graduate work towards the DMA at Indiana Universtiy and North Texas State University. Also he has done graduate work in Musicology (Ph.D program) at the University of Memphis.
