Production Manager

The Production Manager coordinates operational functions (technical and logistical) for all Masterworks (MW), Pops, and Classic Accents (CA) series concerts. In addition, the Production Manager oversees all technical elements of Symphony contracted engagements and co-presentations. This is a full time staff position that provides overall supervision for each area in the production department including, but not limited to, Stage Crew, Piano Tuners, Electrics, Properties, Sound, Projections & Special Effects, Costumes, and Stage Management. The Production Manager reports to the Director of Artistic Operations and works within an Operations team of four, alongside the Symphony Librarian, Orchestra Personnel Manager, and seasonal Education Intern. This position manages, on average, a crew of three persons.

Salary: $45k-$55k

• Manage operations, in collaboration with Symphony administrative staff and venue crews, to ensure proper execution of Symphony presented and co-presented events, rehearsals and concerts.
• Oversee the running of all Symphony presented events, which includes collection, preparation, and distribution of information and event sheets pertaining to schedules and logistics.
• Oversee and monitor actions at venues and rehearsal in coordination with relevant staff to ensure the smooth running of services and engagements.
• Maintain and distribute production notes to all involved parties.
• Maintain appropriate records, database, and filing system for information related to operations including equipment manuals, venue specifications, production note history, maintenance history and payments, stage plots, etc.
• Managing and hiring of any and all stagehands.
• Maintenance and preventative care of Symphony equipment, including two Symphony-owned pianos
• Procuring any and all backline necessary for concerts and events
• Processing payment requests for all tech vendors (audio, piano tunings, backline, etc.)
• Tracking and managing all show expenses, including backline, stagehand, and security costs

• A strong sense of professionalism, good judgment, and leadership
• A creative and resourceful problem-solver
• Knowledge of classical music and experience in the classical music industry
• Meticulous, highly organized, and task-driven
• Able to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to lift at least 25lbs
• Ability to drive the Symphony’s box truck
• Ability to work weekends and evenings
• Knowledge of musician and stagehand unions
