Janaína Fernandes is a Brazilian violinist who was recently awarded the Rebecca Webb Wilson Fellowship at the University of Memphis. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Brasília in Brazil and her Master in Music at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY. Janaína first
began her violin studies at the age of 7, before continuing her studies at the Brasília School of Music, where she studied with Patrícia Melo. At the University of Brasília, Fernandes studied with Dr. Glêsse Collet and then later with Dr. John Fadial from the University of Wyoming. In 2021, Fernandes
studied with Simone Bernardini of the Berlin Philharmonic in Italy.
Janaína has participated in several musical festivals around the world, including the United States, Italy, and Brazil. She has performed as a soloist with Capital Philharmonia Orchestra and the ArtBrasília Orchestra, including appointments as Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster in several ensembles. In Brazil, Janaína Fernandes taught violin studio alongside as string and orchestral instructor at the Brasília School of Music, teaching students of all ages.
Janaína is currently pursuing her Artist Diploma under the mentorship of Dr. Marcin Arendt and is thrilled to perform with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra during its 2023-24 season.
