Matthew O’Neal Finley is a violist who was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Inspired by the arts around him, Matthew fuses the sound of the deep-rooted culture of Memphis while simultaneously keeping hold of his classically trained roots. Matthew focuses his playing in several variable styles across genres and time periods. These include late 19th century and early 20th century Romantic era music, as well as a specialty in chamber ensembles such as string quartets, string quintets, and sonatas with piano accompaniment. Matthew also has experience playing in recording studios for recording engineer majors, a hip-hop artist, and a few producers in the city. Matthew also has experience playing jazz with bands. He recently acquired his Master’s in May of 2023.
